Great Britain's Para Powerlifting Team Shines Bright Ahead of 2023 World Cup

British Weight Lifting (BWL) is thrilled to introduce the athletes who will represent Great Britain at the highly anticipated 2023 World Para Powerlifting World Cup, scheduled to take place in Cairo from 3 – 5 November.

Charlotte McGuinness, competing in the women's up to 55kg class, has already made her mark on the international stage. At the Para Powerlifting World Championships in Dubai, she showcased her strength, securing a commendable 9th position. Charlotte is no stranger to the podium, having secured a silver medal at the 2023 WPPO World Cup, underscoring her potential to shine on the world stage.

In the men's up to 72kg class, Mattie Harding is a true force to be reckoned with. He secured 8th place at the Para Powerlifting World Championships and catapulted himself into the top 8 Paris rankings. Mattie's remarkable achievements also include the 2022 European Championship title and a recent bronze medal at the 2023 WPPO World Cup.

Louise Sugden is set to impress in the women's up to 79kg category. Her outstanding performance in Dubai at the World Para Powerlifting Championships secured her a spot in the top 8 Paris Games rankings. Louise, a highly decorated and seasoned athlete, is a 2020 Paralympic Bronze Medallist and a 2018 Commonwealth Games Silver Medallist.

Behind the scenes, the team is supported by Tom Whittaker, Paralympic Performance Director, Coach Ben Richens who will provide expert guidance and support to maximise the athletes' potential as well as the team's physio, Nicole Walker who will ensure the athletes are in top physical condition.
