British Weight Lifting’s (BWL) new concept competition Battle of the Barbell was officially launched at Strength in Depth at Birmingham NEC on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July.The new competition has been designed to appeal to strength athletes, widening the appeal beyond the traditional Olympic weightlifting boundaries.

Athletes tend to transfer to weightlifting from many sports such as judo, gymnastics, athletics, CrossFit and more.

The England Legacy Masters Championships and Para Powerlifting Open took place on 17 and 18 June at Oldbury Academy, captivating athletes and spectators alike.

Born on November 22, 1929, in Poland, his remarkable journey in life was marked by resilience, triumph, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.
In celebration of the Commonwealth Games Legacy, weightlifting and para powerlifting competitions are returning to Birmingham this summer.The England Legacy Masters Championships and Para Powerlifting Open will take place between 17 – 18 June 2023 at Oldbury Academy.The England Legacy Masters Championships is the first standalone event for competitors in the 35+ age categories and will run over Saturday 17 June and Sunday 18 June in the morning.The England Legacy Para Powerlifting Open is a welcome opportunity for para powerlifters to compete and takes place on the afternoon of Sunday 18 June.These events are able to take place with thanks to Sport England, who are funders of the Birmingham 2022 CWG Legacy Programme
