British Weight Lifting is delighted to announce that it has created a new scholarship scheme to encourage more people from BAME communities to move into coaching roles within weightlifting. 12 places will be available to support individuals to complete a Level 1 and 2 Coaching qualification to enable them to become a licensed BWL Coach, free of charge.

Black Lives Matter

The death of George Floyd in Minneapolis has sparked a global protest against racism and injustice towards black people. In support of this, we respected the silence of #BlackOutTuesday across our social media channels.

Annual LGBT Pride Celebration

June is celebrated as pride month. Pride is a fantastic and colourful celebration of the sexual diversity of people. And while it is the festival of the LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community, it’s a wonderful time for people from all backgrounds to join together and celebrate sexual diversity and support their LGBT+ friends and colleagues. As well as being a month-long celebration, Pride month is also an opportunity to raise political awareness of current issues facing the community.
