BWL Open Competitions
COMPETITION CATEGORIES
British Weight Lifting delivers three open entry competitions:
Regional Open
Held across the country, Regional Opens allow athletes to gain valuable competition experience, achieve qualification totals for national-level events and improve their position on the BWL rankings. They're an ideal next step for lifters looking to build confidence, develop their skills and track their progress throughout the season.
Adaptive Open
The Adaptive Open is a groundbreaking competition to provide adaptive athletes with the opportunity to compete on the platform in an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment. As the first competition of its kind in the UK, the Adaptive Open represents an important step forward in making weightlifting accessible to athletes across a wide range of impairment classifications.
Para Powerlifting Open
Para Powerlifting Open competitions provide athletes with the opportunity to develop their competitive journey in para powerlifting. Open to both new and experienced competitors, these events offer a welcoming pathway into the sport while supporting athletes as they work towards personal and performance goals.
Club Cup
The Club Cup is a team-based weightlifting competition designed to bring clubs, athletes and communities together through the sport of weightlifting. Open to adult lifters of all experience levels, the competition focuses on participation, teamwork and enjoyment, creating a welcoming environment for both new and experienced athletes.
Tier 3 competitions
Tier 3 competitions are hosted by British Weight Lifting-affiliated clubs and take place across the UK throughout the year, with events happening almost every weekend. They offer an accessible and welcoming opportunity for athletes of all levels to step onto the platform, gain competition experience and achieve results that contribute to the national rankings.
More than just a competition, Tier 3 events are a chance to be part of the lifting community. Visit new clubs, meet fellow lifters, learn from others and enjoy a day of weightlifting in a supportive environment. Whether you’re chasing a qualification total, aiming for a personal best or competing for the first time, Tier 3 competitions are a great way to test yourself, build confidence and find your strong.
